The Sunday Whirl

Posted Saturday October 8

I need to get fit. It’ll hurt, but must do it. I need to get trim, so if this is what it takes then so be it.

I’m going up there. See? Right up there. Along that trail. Running. Well, jogging...ish! To the top of the hill. Up into the sky!

Ready steady....ready steady....come one you can do it....ready steady.... go!

Oh, this is easy. What was I worried about?

Whoops! I tripped. Pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again. I feel a song coming on!

Oh look, there’s halfway bridge. I’ve come a long way haven’t I? I feel like Dirk Bogarde in that movie. 'I always felt we tried to go a bridge too far’ Yea!

Onward and upwards. Ouch. I’ve got pins and needles. All I need now is stitch. Stitch... needles....get it?

I’ve made it. The summit. Feel that breeze? They say there’s no wind in space now but I know they're wrong. Anyway, I saw that flag flutter on the moon! If I’d brought a flag I’d plant it right here. I bet there’s a nice view, but I’m so high my head’s in the clouds. What do you mean ‘mist’? These are clouds matey. Cirrus’s's's.

Where’s my flask? Here it is. I didn’t fill it ‘cos I didn’t want to spill it. Hey, I’m a poet and I didn’t know it! Nice drop’a coffee. I’ve got some chocolate somewhere. And a lump of cake. There it is. I deserve this.

Guess it’s time to go down. If I had a tea tray I could slide!

Next time.

If there is a next time!

Good closing Keith! Yes, sometimes our desire to trim off the fats may not be done with enthusiasm. It certainly needs a lot of motivation to sustain i!

  7. A great lesson in keep-fit self-motivation! The summit snack was backsliding, though.
