From Beachy Head to the Pier

It's Wordless Wednesday. Last week we walked from Eastbourne Harbour to the pier. Today we start off three miles in the opposite direction and wander back to the Pier from Beachy Head

Sadly there is a darker side to Beachy Head. On average one person ends their life there every two weeks. Many more are persuaded not to by the ever-present chaplains who patrol the clifftop 24/7.

  13. This is such a beautiful place. I can't understand why someone living among that much beauty would choose to jump off the cliffs.

    1. It's probably because it is such a beautiful place to end it all Joyce. And they come not just from the UK, but across Northern Europe too. So sad.

  14. You took some fantastic shots Keith! Wow, it that a beautiful place. Thankful there are chaplains there to help stop some of the people who want to end their lives.

I want to visit the UK so badly.....one day. ;)

  24. Lovely pictures and looks challenging to the ankles and knees. That's horrifying about the need for chaplains.

  26. what gorgeous scenery. I literally breathed a deep sigh and swear I could smell the air. would be a beautiful walk. such tragedy that there are those who choose to make it their last -- but what a wonderful service those Chaplains are providing to those who need them.
