Writers Island followed by Sunday Scribblings

.
One of this weeks prompts on Writers Island is The Gamble
.

It would be a gamble. It was finely balanced. Either it would produce the required result or it would all go horribly wrong.

Time was on my side, so there was no need to make a quick decision. That could end in disaster. No, the best way would be to take my time and try to minimise the risk.

I decided to leave it alone for a while. Maybe have a glass of wine. But then again that could have a negative influence my judgement. I was thirsty, but under the circumstances it would be more sensible to down a glass of water.

When I returned nothing had changed. It was a little warmer, but that wasn’t a bad thing. There was still that smell in the air which had now intensified. Everything looked the same as before, and I didn’t know what to do for the best.

There was nothing else for it. In a few minutes time this place would be teeming with people and I would be the centre of attention. It was now or never. I plunged in. It was then I made my decision.

I would risk adding another splash of my red hot chilli sauce.
.
This week Sunday Scribblings want us to venture Out Of This World
.
Out of this world
Up in the sky
Over the clouds
Flying high

Swooping up
Shooting down
Spinning fast
Round and round

Out of this world
Passing the moon
Circling Saturn
Whistling a tune

Peering down
The earth so bright
One side dark
The other light

Out of this world
Up in the sky
Over the clouds
Flying high.

  1. It is so hard sometimes to make decisions, even if to add more red hot chilli sauce!

    Am I invited?!

  2. Hot sauce, indeed! You had me fooled for a while. Your poem invites a suitable tune to go with it. It's definitely song material.

  8. Keith,

I didn't expect anything like that coming.

Your indecision gave this piece an interesting topping ~ you save the spice for last and it worked.

    I wish you well.

  10. I sometimes wonder which is best - throw yourself into something, or deliberate.
I think the former - or maybe ...

  11. Your gamble reminded me of someone else who has the innate ability to make simple decisions appear very difficult....
I really enjoyed your poem Out of this world, Keith. An asteroid? A comet? A meteor(ite)? or you?

  15. Whodathunk? An extra dash of chili sauce? Whodathunk? LOL And I love the poem - it sounds so RLS.

  16. An EXTRA dash? I thought you were in the British Isles somewhere, and if you leaned over the pot and whispered, "chili," it would be too much. (Not so with a martini, where a "whisper" of vermouth would be just that.) segue: in my salad days we would call too much of every substance available "skating on the rings of Saturn."

Lots of laughs in this post - thanks.
