Sunday Scribblings 2

When?

How do bluebells know
when it’s time
to peep above the soil?

How do birds know
when it’s time
to cross vast continents?

How does the sun know
when it’s time
to sink beneath the sea?

How do rain-clouds know
when it’s time
for me to light my barbecue?

For Sunday Scribblings 2 where the given word is When

  1. The same way those rain clouds know I just washed the windows. Or my car.

  2. ~~~ : - ) Rain does seem to happen when you have something to do outdoors.
I enjoyed this poem. It had a nice flow. I suppose these are all things we ponder.

ps : Shoud it be "How do birds know" instead of - to ... your poem was probably altered by spell check. I dislike mine so much. ~~~~ : - )

  3. Hi Keith - when the summer solstice is upon us ... or when the temperature reaches an unlikely degree of heat ... looks to be gorgeous today - lots of people on the beach ... and when and why do they sing, or flower, or burst through ... nature is incredible ... enjoy the BBQ ... cheers Hilary

  4. Thoughtful observations with a keen bit of wit at the end. Being in Southern California rain clouds are rarely an issue for me. We can always use rain and I'd gladly forfeit my barbequing to enjoy some rain.

  7. Haha! For me, I can control traffic lights. All that's needed is some task I want to accomplish while waiting at a red light and I'll get all green. Otherwise, if I don't have a text message to read or want to add to a shopping list I'll have to wait at every blasted intersection possible. ~rolls eyes~ What can you do?

  8. When will you realise that everything has got a job to do and you can't alter that as it is not subject to your whims and fancies...just try to fit in like the rest of us.
