Tales of everyday life in the coastal village of Amble Bay
Tonight is karaoke night at the Fish Inn. Yea! I love it! Landlady Polly makes earplugs which she sells over the bar for a charity that helps the hard of hearing!
Tonight we are saving the best ‘til last. Me! I’m not revealing my song.
Pretty Poppy Perkins is on first. She has the voice of an angel. She sometimes sings ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’. Beautiful. So sit back, close your eyes, and here we go…
‘Like a bat out of hell......’
Oh look, here comes Digger Hole. He’s an undertaker. What’s with the grave expression Digger? Ha-ha! And we’re off…
‘Another one bites the dust. Another one......’
It’s lucky dip time! The singer’s name is plucked from one hat, and the title of a song from another. Oh great! Arthur, you are singing Maggie May!
Maggie ...May... Arthur! OK?
The backing track has started, Arthur is clearing his throat, and... he’s off.
‘And now, the end is near, and so I face....'
As usual, Arthur’s doing it 'his way'!
Oh no, I’ve reached my 200-word limit. Now you won’t hear me sing! I’m really sorry. I’ll see you tomorrow down at the lake.

Oh drat! I want to know what he was going to sing! :)ReplyDelete

Now I'm begining to feel guilty! Sorry Liz!Delete
You could have been the opening act if you were really thinking about your 'listeners'.ReplyDelete
Actually Denise, I was thinkng about my listeners!Delete
Next karaoke night, you go first!ReplyDelete
That will be in May and the A-Z will be finished by then and you'll all have gone home!Delete
Well, maybe you will break into song impromptu (like in Bollywood movies!) in your L post...ReplyDelete
on the beach or when Lady Luck lets you know you have won the lottery!
I could well do, especially if I win the lotteryDelete
I love how energetic and wild this is. You get a real sense of who the narrator is and how fun they are. (Checking in from the A to Z Challenge. Hang in there!)ReplyDelete
I'm delighted it came over that way. Thanks so muchDelete
That sigh you heard was the sound of extreme disappointment! :DReplyDelete
A to Z Challenge Letter J
Not you too Calen~! I'll see what I can do. Cheers.Delete
Digger Hole - a name for an undertaker who sings Another one bites the dust ? No kidding. Fabulous.ReplyDelete
Karma #Lexicon of Leaving
Kidding I'm afraid! I only wish he was real. Thanks KalpanaaDelete
Oh that cheating...I was waiting for song by the narrator and the reaction by the people who were attending the Karaoke night...ReplyDelete

I'd better put myself up for The X Factor judging by the reaction this has got! Thanks AnaghaDelete
"What's with the grave expression Digger?" Love the play on words! And the graphic of the girl with the microphone caught my interest right away. So much fun!ReplyDelete

Not you too!!! I'm definately not a soprano though!Delete
Oh! That's not fair. We really wanted to listen to your song. Will you sing at the lake tomorrow? Pretty please!ReplyDelete
Shilpa, I really would love to, but I'm suffering from a really sore throat right now. Sorry!Delete
Always better to be a karaoke observer than participant. Arthur really is remarkable!ReplyDelete
I quite agree. Arthur is... different! Cheers IainDelete
Very funny! Now I have to play my Meatloaf CD. ~grin~ Be well!ReplyDelete
Enjoy and have good dance around the room!Delete
So sad that we didn't get to hear you sing!ReplyDelete
You wouldn't say that if you'd heard me last month! Cheers ShwetaDelete
Such a wonderful cast of characters you've assembled! I wish we could have heard you sing!ReplyDelete
You didn't miss much I promise you! Thanks JosieDelete
Karaoke night sounds like a hoot, but having all that build up for your singing talent and then bailing out made for a bit of a bum note!ReplyDelete
It's bum notes all round on karaoke night. You should have come along Nick, and added yours!Delete
A very entertaining tale in a few lines - perfect for A-Z readers - thank you :) http://pempispalace.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/k-is-for-kids-kingdom.htmlReplyDelete
A lot of people, me included have quite short attention spans when reading post after post, so I alwaystry to limit myself 200 words - which is why I didn't sing!Delete
Hi Keith - is that a blessing in disguise that we didn't hear you sing?! Wonderful telling ... great selection of Karaoke songs ... cheers HilaryReplyDelete
You may have done once - I used to sing regularly around Eastbourne, and a lot in my bistro in Carlisle Road!Delete
Hilarious! Especially the Digger and his song:)ReplyDelete
Celebrating 'Women & their work' all April @NamySaysSo K for Kitchen Queen
That's very kind of you, thank you.Delete
Ha! Too funny! Sounds like a party!ReplyDelete
One thing I've learned in life is to stay away from the Karaoke machine! Nobody wants to hear that, lol. :D
Me too! I really won't go near a karaoke night!Delete
Karaoke night is fun! Well, to watch anyway. Like Vanessa, nobody wants to hear me sing. ;)ReplyDelete
