Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers
Lady Lyla placed a hand to her heart as her guests warmly applauded her enchanting rendition of ‘O mio babbino caro’. Her adoring husband slowly raised his hands from the piano keys and smiled. He was so proud of her. Very soon, their little daughter Charlotte would be playing a tune on her violin, but not before Lyla sang one more song; a special song. Puccini’s Un bel di vedremo; One beautiful day.
Sebastion shuffled in this chair at the back of the room. Would anyone notice the twinkle in Lula's eye as she glanced in his direction at the most tender part of the aria?
Whilst the appreciative audience congratulated Lyla and little Charlotte tuned her violin, Sebastion wandered out onto the balcony and gazed at the moon. He was deep in thought when he felt a hand on his shoulder. 'Soon' she whispered. 'One beautiful day soon'.
