Published Friday March 25

This week's photo comes to us courtesy of Ted Strutz. Thanks for hosting Rochelle.

‘That’s nice Maisie’

‘Yes, Bill would like it Pru. He loved his downstairs toilet’

‘Did he?’

‘Yes. He died on it you know’

‘No’

‘Yes . No one else could use it, not even me Pru ‘

‘Really?’

‘Yes. Every morning he read the paper in there’

‘Did he?’

‘Yes. One day the toilet paper ran out, and later I found the sports pages were missing!’

‘No!’

‘Yes! I wanted it to be his gravestone’

‘Good idea’

‘Yes, but the council said no’

‘No?’

‘Yes. So it’s going in the front garden. Just hope next door’s kids don’t water it for me!’

‘Haha, funny!’

‘Yes! Haha!’

  1. Dear Keith,

  2. What a clever take on the photo! I adore how your mind works. And I must share a story. It is a very different image, but you might enjoy learning how my clever brother (a plumber) used a toilet years ago. He put a new commode in his front yard one Halloween season complete with a stuffed dummy sitting atop. When trick-or-treat night rolled around he took the dummy's clothing and place upon the toilet. He stored the candy in the bowl beneath himself (!) but, as you can imagine, not many children stuck around to collect. :) I don't think he bared his bottom to anyone, at least. Be well!

  4. I think it would make a very good tombstone :-) how typical of the council to not allow it! Great take on the prompt :-)

  7. Funny that he loved the downstairs toilet best.

  8. In these days when most houses have more than one toilet, each has their favourite. I find I get quite possessive if people use the one I prefer. A nice memorial.

  10. Well done on the story told all in back and forth dialogue, Keith. I can kind of understand why the toilet was not acceptable as a grave marker, but he would have probably loved it. Well done. :D --- Suzanne
