A Seabed walk
I am staying close to my home for this week's Wordless Wednesday
A couple of days ago I walked from my local beach at Normans Bay, along the riverbank to Pevensey Castle.

Centuries ago this grassland was the sea bed, and the soil is still filled with seashells.
Pevensey Castle which is now two miles inland, was built by the Romans in the 4th century as a sea defence.
In 1066 William the Conqueror moored his fleet alongside the castle and claimed it as his first base. From this spot the Normans marched inland seven miles to fight the Battle of Hastings.
