Mirror mirror on the wall.....

We get a day off from the A-Z Challenge on Sundays, but being a glutton for punishment I've written this for Sunday's Whirligig 2. I have to admit I didn't use one of the words in my story, so I'll use it here. Vent. There, done!

Given words; page, brush, mirror, sink, weight, tooth, spoon, ravish, stop, cement, orange and vent

Page stood up straight. She dragged a brush through her hair, sucked in her tummy and smiled.

Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the....”

Crash! It fell down and smashed to bits. So she went to the one above the sink in the bathroom.

“Mirror mirror on the wall who’s the .......”

It suddenly steamed up.

“I get it” she said out loud. “You mirrors don’t have the heart to lie to me so from tomorrow, no, the day after tomorrow I’ll have an orange instead of a chocolate bar, a spoon less sugar to help my medicine go down (I don't take medicine but I couldn't resist saying it!) and stop snacking in front of the telly. That way I’ll shed some of this weight

Oh, and I’ll get some of that tooth whitening paste they advertise, and somecement for my face. Then I will look rrrrrrrravishing!  I will be the fairest of them all.”

It didn’t last long though.

She got herself a new bedroom mirror. It was one of those funny ones like you see in the in the Hall of Mirrors at the fun fair that make you look skinny! But at least it behaved itself, stayed put and made her look...well, quite good actually!

    1. Don't know why I didn't think it years ago then I wouldn't have had to go on that pesky diet!

  4. Pity the new mirror was kind to her otherwise we would have seen her vent her frustration again!

  7. Love the 'some ‘cement’ in the story. Here where any 'medicine' won't help, just - ..the right mirror....lol ~ Loved the story. :)

  9. You have a delightful style, Keith, and I very much enjoyed this piece. If the mirror doesn't cooperate, replace it! Works for me (and many others, I'm sure).
