I'm a soothsayer!

It's Day 19 of  the Blogging from A to Z  April 2015 Challenge

I’m a soothsayer. Don’t laugh, I am! I think I have a pretty good idea about what will happen in the future. OK, I admit that none of my predictions have ever come true, but some were pretty close so it's only a matter of time.

The other night my friends laughed when I told them that next week it was going to....... well, never mind!

Needless to say I received the
usual sarcastic response.  'Yea, when pigs fly!’ they said, and as I left  they all made snorting and grunting noises. ‘I’ll show them’ I thought.

A bump in the night
It gave me a fright
I jumped out of bed
And turned on the light

Guess what I saw
Just there by the door?
A confused looking pig
Prostrate on the floor!

The poor pig had stars spinning around its head and it was looking at me through crossed eyes! At first I thought I was dreaming but when I pinched myself  it hurt, so I must have been awake. Then I noticed bits of plaster all over the carpet and an enormous hole in the ceiling! I grabbed my camera and took pictures of the scene.

I looked up to the sky
And realised that I
could prove to my friends
that pigs really fly!

I have another story for children  and the child within us tomorrow! It's called The Time Machine

  4. Nice! As someone who always seems to draw doubt from the general public (and family especially), I see the image of pigs flying all the time. I wish a minor-league baseball team would named itself the Flying Pigs.

Glad I found you through the A to Z Challenge!

  8. What a wonderful post! I have a flying pig ornament that I hand on my Christmas tree each year. There must have been a real flying pig model that was used to sculpt the ornament. right?

  10. And I wonder where the expression came from. Why not when cows fly or goats?

    1. There was a song called When I see an elephant fly in the Disney film Dumbo, but they can't really, not like pigs.
