Dancing

This is my 100 word story which was inspired by the picture of mushrooms at Friday Fictioneers

‘Look Mummy, the fairies are back! They are dancing round and round’

She often saw them, but all I could ever see was a ring of mushrooms in the grass.

I never told her.

Maria was born poorly. Unable to walk unaided, she used to sit for hours on end leaning on a fence reading, singing, imagining, and talking to fairies.

We knew her life would be short, but the end came far sooner than we expected.

This morning when I opened the curtains I saw a ring of fairies dancing round and round. The prettiest of all was Maria
