Six quirky things

Giggles who presides over the most colourful blog in the world has tagged me! And just for once I'm going to have a go. It's quite simple and here are the rules:

Link to the person who tagged you.
Mention the rules.
Tell six quirky, yet boring, unspectacular details about yourself.
Tag six other bloggers by linking to them.
Go to each person’s blog and leave a comment that lets them know they’ve been tagged.
If you participate, let the person
who tagged you know you've posted your quirks!

1) If when I’m watching TV someone starts brushing their teeth I instantly go cold and start to shiver. I have to look away, but I still can’t get the image out of my mind. It’s worse than watching an injection! All that foam dribbling down their chin. Yuc. I can’t even glance in the mirror when I’m cleaning my own teeth or I’d be sick.
'

2) I can remember the registration number (licence plate?) of every car my parents have ever had, but I don’t have a clue what mine is. 1968 Mini 247NCD, 1971 Ford Anglia 5169CR just for starters. Sad but true!
'

3) Whenever I’m enjoying myself with a few people I just have to sing Ole Shep. It’s a standing joke with my friends and family. I’ve been singing it since I was kid. In fact I’ve sung it all over the world – it’s an essential ingredient in a successful holiday. What’s even odder is that I can’t stand the song!
.

4) I have never owned a pair of trainers (sneakers?) Well, I’m not particularly sporty, and I have never had the ambition to run hop or skip faster than anyone else, so why would I need them? I am always amused when I see the most unfit characters and really old folk wearing the latest high performance Nike's. It’s not as if they are about to suddenly sprint anywhere!
.

5) I like French people. Unless you are English you are probably wondering what’s quirky about that! Well, the French and the English are supposed not to get on. I am in fact being very brave by owning up to being a Francophile in public! But I’m not a great fan of things Scottish except of course whisky. Their accent, their attitude, their domination of the UK parliament and the fact that my taxes go to support them. But that’s not quirky; it’s quite normal and absolutely rational.
.

6) I love buses! I always have. To most people they are no more than a means of getting from A to B, but when I’m on a bus it’s the nearest thing to heaven, and if I find myself at a loose end I just hop on the first one that comes along irrespective of where it’s heading. I find myself a seat, usually on the top deck, and then disappear into a good book.I regularly get so relaxed that go past my stop and have to catch another bus back! It all goes back to my teenage years when I was an avid bus spotter – an omnibologist as we called ourselves. Whilst our mates were out chatting up girls my friends and I pursued our aim to spot every bus in the south east of England. Our mates hung out in the park, we hung around bus garages!
'
So there you have it. Now I am going to break the rules by not tagging anyone. I'll ask for volunteers instead, I know you won't let me down!

  1. I've already been tagged for this one by someone else, but I haven't quite finished it yet. It was hard to think of 6 more things after I just did the 101 things! But I should have it up tomorrow or Friday.
I agree about the toothbrush thing.

  3. Thank you my friend for playing along! I knew there would be a few quirks in there!! Writers tend to be quirky people!! Next time I need to admit my disdain for sneakers....I haven't owned any since childhood!! However I do love Chuck Taylors known as converse runners, I've never owned a pair...and won't either! Great post, thanks again...oh strange one!! Kidding of course!!

Can you put up a sound bite of you singing that song?

  4. No trainers? Come off it, matey. How can you ever grow old if you won't wear silly trainers like the rest of us?

  6. What a surprise when I read your comment ! I just came back yesterday evening from Langley where my friends are living. Unfortunately the weather hasn't been as nice as last year. It's also now a whole expedition to get there from Brussels, since they closed Ashford for the Eurostar and I had to go up to London St. Pancras, then take the tube to Victoria and from there to Eastbourne ! Really I don't know why the train stopps at Ebbsfield now, it's in the middle of nowhere and no connection either !
Since my friends moved from London to Langley I have been there once a year in August. It's such a beautiful place !
