Tales of everyday life in the coastal village of Amble Bay
Dan’s perched on a beer crate, microphone in one hand, a spoon in the other. He’s tapping a wine glass. No-one’s noticed.
Dan, tap it harder!
Whoops! Breaking glass always attracts attention.
Question two is even easier.
No Arthur, not Broom and Brim. Name two 'birds' starting P and ending N, not two 'words' starting B and ending M!
I’ll write down Pidgeon and Penguin.
That’s it, now the results. Wake up Arthur.
Wake up Arthur!
I predict we got thirty correct, eight almost, and a couple of wrong'ens. What? We came last? Tricky Dicky’s mob won? I demand a recount!
Tomorrow we are taking a ramble along the coastal path. Don't forget your walking boots!

Arthur wasn't much help now, was he? Better that he caught up on his sleep. Shame on Tricky Dicky for googling, anyone can win that way...not fair! R for Recount? Hope it is!ReplyDelete
Brilliant idea for R. I'll put it Dapper Dan! Thanks for commenting so soon, the ink is hardly dry!Delete
Sounds like a conversation I would have with my husband. Broom and Brim - two birds that start with P and end in N! Maui JungalowReplyDelete
Haha! I admit that I based that on personal experience! Cheers CourtneyDelete
It certainly is cheating to have your phone with you. Sweetie misunderstands questions like that, too.ReplyDelete
Tut tut, indeed! As always, a solid and amusing post.ReplyDelete

Pleased to have ammused you Melanie!Delete
I always like a pub quiz. It's funny how competitive it can get. This one sounds like a hoot!ReplyDelete
I prefer hosting them to partaking, and I've done a lot of that in my pubs! Cheers Nick.Delete
I hate games of any kind! I suck at games! :(ReplyDelete
A to Z Challenge Letter O&P
A kindred spirit! I'm useless as I prove each day on your blog Calen~!Delete
How come they always take that long? I love pub quizzes but never know any answers to anything. And when I do others don't believe me and put in the wrong answer. Makes me laugh. 'told you so!'ReplyDelete
We keep telling Dan to keep them shorter, but to no avail! I totally empathise with your quizzing experience. Thanks lynneDelete
Hi Keith - pub quizzes .. I enjoy them sometimes - but need a few friends around to help! I need time to get my head into gear .. and someone's come up with the answer already .. unfair!!! But a great tale of quizzing in Amble Bay ... tomorrow we can rumble the ramble reminiscing about how unfair life is in the pub - and perhaps change the venue - to a place where signals cannot be got (good English!) .. cheers HilaryReplyDelete
As I mentioned to Nick, I'd rather host than participate. I held one every Monday in one of my pubs. I didn't enjoy them, but they put quite a bit of money in the till!Delete
Enjoyed the quiz. Thanks for another brilliant story.ReplyDelete
Best wishes ...
I'm pleased. Sorry you didn't win!Delete
You have some great characters in your pub.ReplyDelete
Typical of a village pub! You see all life there! Thanks SallyDelete
I demand a recount too.ReplyDelete
The Tricky team should be disqualified.
A Peice Of My Life
Here here - ban them! Cheers DeeDeeDelete
Pub quizzes sound interesting! I always thought they were about brawls and beers!( Not my fault, that's what the TV and books describe them as :P)ReplyDelete
No! Our village pubs are peaceful places where we chill! City pubs are a different matter, but they don't usually go in for quizzes!Delete
I watch a lot of BBC series and love the scenes with pub quizzes - Several times on Midsomer Murders. If they have them here in America, they don't have any in my area.ReplyDelete
Well, there's an idea for you! They are fun and in my village pub they were a very useful to bring normally quiet nights like Mondays to life!Delete
You write characters and settings so well. I created a way to remember how to spell 'occasion'. It's an occasion to see an ess (2 C an S). ~grin~ I am not good at live competitions like this. Be well!ReplyDelete
Hey, that's clever! My spelling is aweful - thank goodness for Grammarly.Delete
quizzing times on my blog as well today:)ReplyDelete
and the next quiz time around, they should say 'phones at the basket by the door'!
as always, fun times in Amble Bay
Funny you should say that because I had a box on the bar for phones on quiz nights when I ran my village pub!Delete
Uh oh, Tricky Dicky's up to no good! Love the bit about James forgetting where he placed his memory. I can relate... ;)ReplyDelete

What dd you say? I've forgotten already! Cheers SaraDelete
This sounds like a lot of fun, though cheaters should be ousted!ReplyDelete
...and so say all of us!Delete
My favourite pub quizzes are the ones where I can just drink my beer and listen to everyone else answer the questions :-)ReplyDelete
Me too em! I used to run them every Monday in my pub, and no matter how much my regulars pleaded, I would not take part!Delete
Chuckling over the spelling. You know. Old editors never die. They just ... ?ReplyDelete

Great to see you Linda!Delete
Love a good pub quiz. I'm free every Thursday night if they need a regular.ReplyDelete
They certainly do Iain. Did I see you on Mastermind? If so, drinks are on the team!Delete
Just as I predicted... brilliant.ReplyDelete
Hope James finds his memory. Of all the things I've lost over the years, I miss my mind the most.

I like quizzes! When I know the answers, lol. I would demand a recount for this quiz, too!ReplyDelete

I am useless at quizzes which is why I was always the question master at my pubs!Delete
I love trivia: quiz shows on TV, trivia nights etc. I run The World Famous Trivia Quiz for my students each Wednesday in class. No offence, but I don't think I'll be inviting any of your mob to join my team for my next trivia night.ReplyDelete
My lot wouldn't understand your questions let alone answer them!Delete
