FFfAW plus Three Word Wednesday

Posted Thursday June 2

The photopromt at FFfAW comes courtesy of Barbara Taylor via our host, Priceless Joy.
The given words at Three Word Wednedsday are kook, lethal and maniacal.

Boris stared across the Thames at the city skyline. He had cold feet, but he also had a calling.

He would be the first ever to leave the village of Insulatum. Generations had toiled the land, taught their children and remained apart from the influences of the wicked world beyond. London was evil they said. There, thousands appeared from underground at sunrise, descending down the steps again at nightfall. Crooks and lethal charlatans abounded.

Before he left, the villagers handed him a sack containing a cross, a bottle of water from the well and a flare should he need rescuing.

Five years on the city-dwellers believed him to have been educated at an exclusive school, attended a fine university and the offspring of wealthy parents. Boris became Mayor of London. Something of a kook, Londoners laughed with him.  Yet they applauded him in equal measure.

His reign finished recently. Soon he will return to Insulatum, in his sack a pot of gold.

Footnote.

Boris Johnson was Mayor of London from May 2008 until May 2016. Fact.

My tale? Pure fiction.

Well, mainly!

  1. Boris took a risk the others were not willing to take and because of doing so, he returns a wealthy man! Great story, Keith!

  7. Boris is all that is wrong with this country - and all that is right - if nothing else it's amusing seeing him hang from a zip wire in a suit whilst waving a Union Jack - money well spent :~ thank you for the cheer..

  8. There are occasions when one can surpass the imagination to aspire for high office. Dreams can come true but still natural ability is important to do a good job! Rightly so Keith!
