This week’s words at The Sunday Whirl are one, call, wind, share, nexus, left, press, flush, threats, list, swear and tender. I used ten as they are, and chopped nexus up!

The list

‘Thanks driver’ I shouted as I got off the bus. With my girlfriend's shopping list in hand, I looked to the left, looked to the right, and then dashed across the busy road to the mall.

Halfway across, the wind snatched the piece of paper from my hand. I watched as it disappeared from view pressed against a car windscreen. I'm not one to swear as a rule,  but I confess to emitting a mild expletive.

I stupidly hadn’t looked at it, so I had no idea what shops I needed to visit, or what to buy. I decided to ring home. As I had a very urgent need for a pee, I thought I’d call from the public men’s loo.

I’ve never been one for multitasking, and just as I single-handedly pressed the first key, my phone shot out of my hand and into the toilet. At that very moment, the automatic flush kicked in and it disappeared from view.

I decided to go to the pub and drown my sorrows.

Bob the bar tender was looking at a piece of paper. ‘This list ended up on Pete’s windscreen on the way here’ he said with a grin on his face.

‘Ah, that’s mi........’  I said just as he screwed it up and threw it on the log fire.

I downed my pint and got the next bus home.
