After the fire....

Wordless Wednesday

Ten months ago the Victorian pier near my home in Eastbourne was set alight. The grand pavilion built in 1877 was destroyed. Restoration work is now underway and the remaining part of the pier is once again open to the public. I took a stroll along it with my trusty camera.

  2. I'm glad they're restoring it - piers are wonderful structures. My local pier was bombed in WWII and never replaced. I love the colours in that final picture; it looks like a painting.

  7. I was heartbroken when heard about the fire. Although I'd only been to Eastbourne once, many years ago, the pier was the first of its kind I'd ever seen and I was captivated by it.

  21. It's always so sad when a beloved landmark goes down in flames, or gets ruined in a storm. Your pictures tell a fantastic story about rebuilding. Is this place near you?
