Paradise

Written for Sunday Scribblings (1st post) and Carry On Tuesday

I stood motionless on a mountainside filled with awe and incredulity as I tried to take in the miracle which is Machu Picchu. The Taj Mahal took my breath away; I was moved to stroke its glistening walls. I floated slowly and softly on the still waters of Kerala and wandered in amazement through the temples and trees of Angkor Wat. When I flew close to Everest it seemed near enough to touch. Have I witnessed paradise? When I strolled, numb through the killing fields of Cambodia I know I had a brush with hell.

But there's another place that I can go. Paradise for me is in easy reach. It’s a place where I rejuvenate, revive and restore my senses. A place where my mind wanders free, taking me to places that only dreams are made of. There I am cosseted, swathed and secure. For me, paradise is my bed.

  1. Getting into bed is paradise, getting out is hell! Each of us ( I hope) has seen a little piece of paradise just like you...it makes life worth living.

  2. I couldn't agree more. On a cold night when I wake up to two kitties snug against me I can't think of any place else I'd rather be.

  12. I agree! Paradise can be found in bed, especially when you're with the one you love. A good mattress helps, too.
