An angel's tale

Our prompt this week at Carry On Tuesday is 'Once upon a time' and at Sunday Scribblings, 'Soothe'.

Let me read it to you!

I once went wandering through the woods and  I came upon a wizened little man slumped on a wooden stump beneath a leaning tree. Time had not been kind to him. His troubled soul had taken its toll and draped a sorrowful shroud of loneliness over his sagging shoulders. As I ambled towards him he looked me in the eye as if he was seeking solace and succor. I sensed his pain and knew my charge was to soothe his sadness. I reached into my pocket then flung into the air a shower of shimmering silver stars. As they settled all around him he smiled and as he did, the sun cast off its cloak of cloud. All around him, golden shards of light frolicked and danced to a merry tune which came from a place I know not where somewhere beyond the trees. Then, he was gone. Never will I know what troubled him, but my task was done. I love being a angel!
