Writers Island - Awakening

.
As a baby I was the centre of attention, or so it seemed. And then I became the coolest kid on the block, but not for long.
.
When I reached my teens I thought the world revolved around me. At least, that’s what I believed. I couldn’t have been more wrong!

Years later I reckoned the world owed me a living, but I soon found out it didn’t.

When I felt it was time to settle down I thought I’d have a queue of brides waiting at my door, but there wasn’t. And when I did eventually wed I thought marriage would be easy. How wrong could I have been.
.
Now I face the future full of hope and lofty aspirations. I hope I’m not heading for yet another rude awakening!

  4. An awakening doesn't alaways end up in Paradise! There are other bells and whistles to be had!

    Great post!

  5. Laughs. Hope springs eternal. But it sounds like you have a grip - hope for the best; deal with reality. :-)

  7. sometimes i think it is not until we are willing to accept less that we will receive more.... i am not authority mind you... but i am thinking it might be truer than we are wanting to believe....

  9. Keith,

It is sad that some things just don't happen the we wanted them to be. The world could be cruel sometimes, but nobody ever said that life would be fair. We just have to work around what we have and become the best out of it.

Life is still beautiful with all its flaws.

    I wish you well.

  12. Hey, at least you're an optimist! :)

  13. Hopefully this time your optimism will be rewarded.

PS Loved hearing your voice, it really added that personal touch. You sound just like my old co-workers, but I suppose that's no surprise since you're apparently from the same region.

  14. Sometimes an awakening is a way of moving forward. Well, at least that's what I tell myself. Life sure has a way of keeping us on our toes!

  15. Life is quite full of rude awakenings, isn't it? And yet, that's part of the fun of it too.
