Post 1557.
During April, I wrote 26 short stories about the coastal village of Amble Bay as my contribution to the A-Z Challenge. Links to the episodes are at the foot of this post starting with A for Arthur!
Hi Folks!
I thought you might to know what’s been going on in Amble Bay since your visit in April.
The biggest news is the village committee decided to rename the hall in memory of Arthur. It’s now known as the Arthur Adams Hall, or 'Arfur's 'all' for short! It's been repainted too. According to Dapper Dan, it doesn't look Arfurs bad as it used to!
I don’t think you met Potty Polly, did you? She makes clay pots and also the odd bit of sculpture (odd being the operative word!) She was asked to produce a model of Arthur’s head to pop on a plinth in the foyer. Once completed she got handyman Harold to install it. Most of the village turned up for its ‘unveiling’. A great cheer went up as the tea towel was whipped from the work of art. That was followed by bemused babbling, then silence, then laughter as the audience realised Arthurs' head was mounted upside down!
It was an easy mistake for Harold to make given that -
1) He forgot his spectacles the day he fixed it
2) Arthur's head was hairier than an unshorn sheep
What else? Actually, I can’t think of anything else, but I’ll let you know next time something of note occurs!
Lovely to catch up on the Bay. I hope this will become a regular newsletter!
