Post 1472. Wednesday March 8
Tommy had a ginormous magnifying glass for his eighth birthday.
Yesterday he investigated a spider in the middle of a web. Suddenly the wind blew and the web started waving around. "Now I know why spiders have eight legs. It’s so they get...ten...twenty...erm...a lot of toes to hang on with".
He spotted a bug on a post. Detectives aren’t afraid of bugs. The bug turned and looked Tommy straight in the eye! His eye must have looked huge through the magnifying glass. I don’t know who was more scared, the bug or Tommy!
"Wow" he said as he peered through his magnifying glass at teatime. "These baked beans are enormous!"
Thanks Rochelle for hosting and Shaktiki Sharma for the photo
Sadly the comments I received earlier disappeared, but thanks to to the wonders of email I was able to resurrect them.

DeleteI loved this children's tale! I recall the fun we had with magnifying glasses as children, seeing giant bugs in great detail, and trying with all our might to catch a piece of paper on fire by reflecting the rays of the sun!
ReplyDeleteAh! Happy memories. I had completely forgotten about lighting fires with them. I really must try it again.
DeleteThat was sweet and a great use of that font... I was wondering why you would choose such a one ;-)

DeleteSounds like he's going to have a lot of fun with that magnifying glass! I love the line "detectives aren't afraid of bugs" - sounds just like something a kid would think when they're all excited about "being" something new.
