This week's given words are babble cherish and damned.
I glanced over my shoulder. He was walking behind me babbling incoherently. I stopped. He stopped. ‘Damned’ he yelled stabbing a finger at me ‘Damned’. I went cold. He stared me straight in the eye and murmured an incomprehensible jumble of words. I was transfixed. Did he know my secret? How could he know my secret? Was the guilty pleasure I cherished about to be uncovered?
A tap on my shoulder startled me. I spun around to find my friend facing me, a bewildered expression on his face. ‘You OK mate?’ he asked. I was my turn to gabble.
‘Hey, hey, slow down. What’s up?’ I pointed a finger over my shoulder.
‘Him....him’ I stammered not daring look behind me.
‘What, Damnation Dan? Haha. Ignore him’
I turned. ‘Damned’ he yelled. ‘Damned’ he shouted at an elderly lady who just smiled and shook her head. 'Morning Dan' she said as she walked on by.

Glad to know that"Damnation Dan" or his cousin is still around worrying passers by. Booze is so expensive these days I thought he may have given up.
ReplyDeleteAlways good to pass by Damnation Dan..that tap on the shoulder gave us the colly-wobbles..
ReplyDeleteNow I'm curious to what the secret is.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Patricia! Can we have a sequel? ~grin~ Happy writing, my dear.

ReplyDeleteHow vulnerable we become with a guilty conscience.
ReplyDeleteits guilt that haunts us
ReplyDeleteWhoops, a guilty conscious.......
ReplyDeleteAhhh, the guilty one assumes that his cover has been blown and he is being accused of his sins. I think we've all been in that precarious position a time or two, and hopefully were able to recover from both the accusation and the nature of our crimes!
