Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers

This week's photo prompt is provided by pixabay.com

‘Cry havoc. Let slip the dogs of war’ shouted a vengeful Mark Antony as he sent his soldiery into pillage and chaos. Into battle.
*
A black labrador lays beside a flower-strewn grave, head resting on its paws. Its master was sent into battle. Afghanistan. Every day it comes here. It sits. It whimpers.
*
‘Let slip the dogs of war’ successive generations have cried, as future leaders will  again, I am sure. Such futility. Such waste. Will man ever learn? I would like to think so.

But sadly, I think not.

  3. Unfortunately, this is the reality of war. It is very sad and does it really accomplish anything? Not very much for the cost of lives it takes. Wonderful story, Keith!

  4. Lovely use of those quotes and Marc Anthony. As long as there is humanity, there is war bc there will always be men such as Hitler, Saddam Hossein, the leaders of ISIS. To keep our peace, we must always sacrifice to beat the bad guys. The story of mankind sometimes. So, sad
