Secrets......
We think we know the ones we love. But do we really? Can you put your hand on your heart and say that there’s not one part of your life you’ve kept to yourself?
Can you be certain there’s not one little detail tucked away in the recesses of your loved ones mind that you will never be party to?
Just imagine what would happen if we held an amnesty of deeply held secrets; a temporary disclosure of withheld thoughts and prejudices. All of us, no matter how aloof or secretive we may be?
Suppose that on one particular day everyone in the world told their partners, friends, strangers even, something that they‘d previously kept to themselves. The whole truth and nothing but the truth!
I can't help thinking there would be far fewer successful relationships if everyone was wholly truthful with each other. After all, some things are best kept hidden and having secrets keeps you on your toes! I certainly had a few, but then again I've never managed to hold a relationship down so perhaps I need to think this through a bit more!

You are a master at making the hair on my arms stand on end. Well done!
ReplyDeletesome truths are not necessary but big secrets are not good in a relationship

May be useful to hold back what is not material to safeguard good feelings. This is being tactful and prompted by enhanced maturity. Great lines Keith!

I believe in honesty, but NOT total honesty... My secrets will remain as they are, secret!
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference between lying and not telling the whole story...if we hold secrets we do not want to disclose so too must the other person in our relationship...perhaps we are conditioned to think secrets are bad but sometimes pergolas they are not disclosed out of love...
ReplyDeleteGood grief what happened to the spell check! What is a pergolas...I meant perhaps!
DeleteIt is sometimes kinder to withhold things, especially if they would hurt or upset the person concerned. I believe there are degrees of secrets. Oh, and I love pergolas - bring 'em on!
DeletePergolas could hide secrets too!
DeleteI like the humour in this but would still agree that you should always keep something back...and so should they!
ReplyDeletei think we are afraid to know the secrets of those we love and respect and we fear for ourselves while holding back our own secrets.
