Saint-Vallery-sur-Somme, France

It's Wordless Wednesday time again!

I live on the south coast of England in what is known as 1066 Country. It's the place where William the Conqueror landed and fought the battle of Hastings.

I thought it would be interesting to find the place in Normandy from where his fleet of 776 ships set sail, and so last week I crossed the channel to the medieval town of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and had a look around.

.

and to end my day...........

  13. That's exactly what I did in May ! Unfortunately it rained a lot and most of the restaurants and bars where closed. It hadn't been the tourist season yet !

  14. I love the old, architecture! There's so much old, old history in France. I love visiting historical sights in and around our area or take day trips to see something in a neighboring city or state. Of course, I'm sure to have my big girl camera and always have my iPhone to snap interesting shots. Fabulous #WW photos!

  20. A friend just came back from a year's adventure in France, and Normandy (where he husband comes from) was first on the list. When she posted photos, I went' "Awww wonderful!" These photos had me doing something like, "Oh WOW!" instead. Thank you for sharing. As I have a crippling fear of flying, I'll never see these places in person, and these photos really help me get there in my head.
