A piece of fiction influenced by John Lennons words 'In my Life'
Often In my quieter moments I let my mind drift back to an earlier time. Moments in my life are defined by places. Places where I played as a child. Places I grew up in and places where something significant happened. And sometimes I return to those places hoping to recapture some of those moments.
Many of them have changed beyond recognition, and not always for the better. Some of the fields in which I played out childhood adventures have sprouted houses and shops. Trees in which I carved a loving heart have been felled and those special places known only to me have all but disappeared. Yet some remain as a permanent reminder of happy days, sad days, and days I remember for no particular reason.
It is then I recall my friends and loved ones. Most of them have gone or moved on, some are now sadly departed. I loved them all.
I know you can’t hear me. You probably don’t even remember me, but the time I spent with you was the happiest of my life. Nothing I did, no one I befriended or even loved compared with you. All my friends and lovers have a special place in my heart, and I will cherish their memory until my dying day. And I will often stop and cast my mind back to those wonderful times.
But in my life, I loved you more.
Ok, so this isn't the Beatles version. It's our Ozzy, but I just LERVE it!
If I hadn't seen/heard Ozzy singing the Beatles I'd never had believed it. I just bought the DVD of "Across the Universe" last night... the romantic film set in the 70s with a soundtrack built around Beatles music. Haven't watched it yet, but the preview looked interesting.
