Treasure Island

This weeks prompt on Writers Island is Treasure.

I am on an island, a treasure island. No need here for tattered maps and rusty trunks filled with fancy trinklets.Treasure awaits me around every corner. I see it the ancient rocks, in trees bowed low with olives. Treasure under my feet as a stroll along its pebbled sun-blessed shores. I find it in the wings of butterflies and the golden setting sun.

For here is true treasure, nature's treasure. My treasure for as long as I stay and mine again when I return. For I shall return, return to my treasure island.

  1. I enjoyed your photographs of Samos as well as the poem. They awakened the dormant wonderlust in me. I have a favourite Greek island, which shall remain nameless in order to preserve its funky charm.

  3. Love the idea of an island of ones own. The ability to say yes or no to visiters according to whim. And the deliciousness of having it all to self when that is what is needed.
