A Chinese banquet

It's Wordless Wednesday time again

Fancy some Chinese food?

I took these pictures in a street food market in Beijing last year. Everything from sheep's testicles to starfish, maggots to scorpions!

  5. I was at this street market a few years ago. My daughter was going to brave a scorpion, but our guide told her that the last people she brought there bought one and when they broke it open there were live maggots inside. Great photos.

  6. Ramona is right this market is not for the weak stomach. I guess it depends where you grow up and what you get used to.

  18. Okay, so the pattern on the sheep thingies is really interesting and almost pretty....but I've heard it said that the Chinese eat every part of an animal........waste not, want not, I suppose...but not for me!!!

  19. I'm fascinated by the things people eat around the world. So much what we consider edible is set in our childhoods. Great shots.

  27. Great pictures. I remember having so much fun with the food in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, etc.) a few years ago. Even braved some of the street food as long as I could see the cooking space and process. Delicious.
